The International Institute of Health, for Treatment, Research and Education

The International Institute of Health, for Treatment, Research and Education is a non-profit organization dedicated to enhance collaboration and exchange of knowledge among professionals from other countries, working in the psychiatric and addictive disorder field. The Institute was founded in 1996 by Susana E. Méndez - MD, Ma.OM, L.Ac, with the idea to provide appropriate treatment-referrals to people in need, to research new avenues of treatment and education in order to improve society mental health, decrease addiction to illegal and prescription drugs and, to educate professionals in new ways of treatment.

 

The Founder

Susana E. Méndez, MD, Ma.OM, Dipl in Oriental Medicine, L.Ac, LCDC, CAS, ADCIII, ABMPP, NBCDCH, CCJS-MAC, AAC, ICADC, CADS, is President and Chief Executive Officer of the Institute and a licensed psychiatrist in Argentina with more than twenty (23) years of experience working in the psychiatric and chemical dependency fields. Dr. Méndez has extensive experience in Residential and Outpatient programs working for profit and non-profit corporations.

 

In Texas she has been part of the treatment team of the Adult Outpatient Program at Nexus Recovery Center, Inc., Doctors Hospital in Garland, Director of the Adult Outpatient component for The New Place and past Director of the Narcotic Treatment Programs(Residential and Outpatient) at Homeward Bound Inc. She was the Program Director of the Adult Residential Unit of Charter Behavioral Health System in central Pennsylvania and The Harbor in New Jersey. For the past 11 years she served as Assistant Executive Director/Clinical Director managing directly the functions the residential and outpatient units, the Research and Acupuncture Clinic - Detoxification Units for Trinity Center-Homeward Bound, Inc, and became a National Trainer for NADA (Acupuncture Detoxification).

 

Dr. Méndez is active in many organizations and is a consultant for the Private and State Hospitals in Argentina and for Channel 52 and 23 in the USA. Dr. Méndez obtained her Master of Oriental Medicine in 2005, is diplomated by the American Board of Medical Psychotherapists and Psychodiagnosticians, by the National Board of Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist and the Texas Board of Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselors and certified in Acupuncture Detoxification, Addictive Disorders and other areas of clinical practice.

 

The Institute is based in Dallas, with office in Buenos Aires, Argentina - Rio de Janeiro, Brasil and Madrid, Spain.
